This romantic repertoire has its roots in the great lieder tradition, where music set to emotive poetry is interpreted equally by voice and piano – a marriage made in heaven. The Bavarian Radio Chorus directed by Peter Dijkstra performs the most astonishing feat: each line sings as one voice with the same command of a great lieder singer, which is simply breathtaking.
