Verdi : Luisa Miller

Stefano Vizioli’s production for Malmo Opera doesn’t shed any particular light on Luisa Miller. The stage is either pretty bare or has a minimalist structure for indoor scenes, though he does elicit some good acting from his cast. The singers aren’t particularly big names but there are two good voices on display. First is Olesya Golovneva as Luisa, her soprano clear and fresh. She has fluent coloratura and the necessary weight of voice to cope once through the nimble requirements of Act 1.
