Luneburg organist Georg Bohm, so strongly to influence the organ writing of J.S. Bach, has a consistency in his writing as keen as that of Bach himself. The Johannes Creutzburg organ in Duderstadt is one of two to survive in part, dating from the 1730s in the last decade of that builder’s life. A much needed restoration was completed in 2006 by Hermann Eule, with the brilliant results recorded here. Among the complete works, Bohm’s winning character is exemplified in the chorale preludes. Sleeve notes contain all the registration changes.
