Long-forgotten music crops up all the time these days: if you spend time in a library, you may well be seated next to an opera singer foraging for lost gems (or so they hope). Soprano Julia Lezhneva spent time in a Berlin library trawling for works by Carl Heinrich Graun, who was Kappelmeister to Frederick the Great for almost 20 years in the mid-18th century. She then took a selection into the recording studio for us to judge whether she has in fact unearthed a series of masterpieces. I suspect not entirely, though the disc does offer much pleasure.
