Viennese Rhapsody – Dejan Lazic

Dejan Lazić is back with a new recording live from the Gstaad Mehunin Festival 2022. This performance contains Johannes Brahms’ 2 Rhapsodies, Op. 79, written in 1879 during composer’s summer stay in Pörtschach, Austria, when he had reached the maturity of his career. They were inscribed to his friend, the musician and composer Elisabeth von Herzogenberg. Beethoven’s famous ‘Moonlight’ Sonata needs no introduction, a popular favourite both in the composer’s day and in the present. Mozart’s Piano Sonata No. 13 “Linz Sonata” & Schubert’s Der Hirt auf dem Felsen are also included in this release. Closing the programme is a piece written by Dejan himself, his Rhapsody in Istrian Style, Op. 18b is inspired by the folk music of the Istrian peninsula which many croatian pianists have been fascinated by.
