The singing is all you might expect from a choir whose members have attended the Eton Choral Courses. Trained impeccably by their director Ralph Allwood, the sound of these young voices is a mixture of sheer delight and sensitive musician- ship. Elgar has been the bedrock of many a choral society across the decades and this programme is a voyage through his choral writing, from youthful compositions of sacred texts, redolent of the period but showing such promise, to secular settings, to I sing the birth dated 1928.
