Guitarist Leopoldo Saracino is already famous for his numerous interpretations of the contemporary repertoire. In this album, he decided to explore the works of one of the most famous contemporary Italian composers, i.e. Davide Anzaghi. He achieved this aim by highlighting several aspects of his music, which knowledgeably mixes forms of the past (such as in the splendid Omaggio a Rameau which opens the album, or also in Rossiniana I), homages to the pillars of the instrument’s history (such as in Segoviana), and more intimate and personal works, as happens with the closing piece, Storia di un pioppo. Saracino’s performance not only points out, on many occasions and with great precision, the stylistic changes between one piece and another, but also puts into relief the composer’s typical fluency, sketching a multicoloured portrait of the recent repertoire for the guitar.
