Claude Debussy was so fascinated by oriental music, that he listened for the first time during the universal exposition of 1889, to be given to his only daughter Emma-Claude the nickname of Chouchou (butterfly).
In many of his compositions elements of the scales, of the sonorities and of the oriental polyrhythms constantly and overwhelmingly appear in the universe of his writings already far from the classicism of the 19th century.
In the arrangements and improvisations of the duet Giancarlo Parisi e Katia Pesti these elements are enhanced and highlighted both in the selection of the pieces and in the use and insertion in the original scores of particular instruments such as the Zi-flute( an headjoint for flute patented by Parisi same), rejong and gong (recovered from Pesti during her trips to Bali).
