When you think of Tango it is inevitable to think of Argentina, its main exponents – Piazzolla in the first place – as well as some of its most important performers. This is not the case with the duo Opus Lude who decided for this record to take a decidedly different and counter-current path, confirming once more how tango can be a valid form and genre in a concert hall as far as within the musical repertoire of each musician. The four Italian composers (Amici, Schittino, Di Marino, Santucci) demonstrate mastery of the language of Tango in which they insert a soul that was foreign to them, devoted to the concert form on the one hand but also reflecting the peculiarities of the land – Italy – who created them. The concertation of the pieces by the Duo is masterful, text to the virtuosic calibration between the two instruments and careful to ensure that both the flute and the guitar find the right place and the right balance within each piece.
