This recording of piano works by Francis Poulenc, including Les soirées de Nazelles, Thème varié, and Napoli, was made in June 1972. Although it was completed as a master for production shortly after the sessions, the recording remained unreleased for 53 years. It serves as a joyful reminder of the youthful virtuosity of Martin Jones, one of the UK’s most highly regarded pianists, captured during the early months of Nimbus Records’ first purpose-built studio in Birmingham.
