A double-CD featuring the four late Tenor Masses and related material by Guillaume Du Fay. Les Messes à Teneur features the eight not-quite-equally accomplished singers of Cut Circle, weaving their way efficiently through Du Fay’s seemingly endless variety of gesture. These interpretations expose each complex musical structure with ear-pleasing shapeliness, but there are just too many infelicities of blend, intonation, and technique for me to hail this fine achievement wholeheartedly. …
