The title “Hot sax” is ideally inspired by one of the compositions presented in the disc and today among the best known for this instrument, that Hot-Sonate by Erwin Schulhoff. Alongside this work, the Duo Otto e Quindici also presents other cornerstones of literature of the past century such as Darius Milhaud’s Scaramouche as well as works of great charm by Eugène Bozza, Graham Fitkin, up to Piet Swerts. A program that spares no virtuosity and that does not fail to constantly test the Duo in keeping, even dramatic, of these pages. Difficulties largely overcome and dominated both by Alfonso Cerrito on the saxophone and by Anna Lisa Giordano on the piano who, in addition to demonstrating control and technical mastery, show an extraordinary interpretative maturity that make this record a point of reference for anyone who wants to tackle this repertoire.
