Janacek: Violin & Piano Works – Nicolas Dupont

Perhaps the greatest Czech composer after Dvorak and Smetana, Janacek’s music has made a strong impact on the theatrical world thanks to operatic masterpieces. Not least, his compositions dedicated to the chamber show an author at ease even with the smallest ensembles, in an ideal trait d’union between the dying ‘800 and the nascent twentieth century sounds. The performance is entrusted to two young musicians who show that they not only perfectly know the subject matter, but are also able to enter deeply into the most complex folds of this author’s poignant music.
