Krónos and Kairós, the two meanings that the Greeks attributed to time; the titan Krónos: the abstract time that flows, the quantitative duration, the god Kairós instead the qualitative one: right, appropriate, propitious, but also the movement of time that coincides with the eternal. These are the elements that inspired Battista Giordano’s composition for the thirtieth anniversary of the CalagononeJazz International Festival, now released on CD. In the new album by composer Battista Giordano a formidable quintet made up of top-level musicians from the international scene: the extraordinary American violinist Ariel Horowitz, a pupil of Iztak Perlmann at the Julliard School, Piotr Marciak, an excellent violinist member of the Krakow Symphony, the extraordinary cellist Tomasz Wiroba , the great violist Carlos Garfias and the same author of the music, the guitarist Battista Giordano. The CD, recorded live in the closing concert of the XXX ° CalagononeJazz international Festival, is divided into 7 movements for string quartet and guitar, conceived in the style of program or descriptive music, characterized by a surprising thematic and compositional variety.
