Albicastro’s house was a short walk from our live recording venue in Leiden. Knowing he once walked here inspired us deeply to bring his music back to life over 300 years later. Spending his entire career in the Netherlands, he perfectly fits our series ‘Dutch Masters of the 18th Century’. The pure beauty of Albicastro’s music is hard to put into words. Surprising harmonies, bold dissonances, and unique rhythms give his work a striking character. This powerful music shows true mastery, beautifully combining elegant structures with rich musical layers.
