The chamber music of Dominique Lemaître (1953) develops as inspiration from Gaston Bachelard (1884-1962), who wrote “Tell me what is your infinity and I will know the meaning of your universe”. This proverbial phrase of his refers to the idea that the infinite corresponds to the region in which the imagination affirms itself “free and alone, conquered and victorious, proud and trembling”. However, gathering solos and duets, this selection offers much more than simple monologues and possible “sonatas for two” in which one instrument classically accompanies the other, but layered and complex expressions. Dominique Lemaître, who boasts a background in art, musicology and also electroacoustics, develops this album with great creative skills.
