The imposing figure of Franz Liszt left an almost indelible trace throughout the nineteenth century in all fields of musical art, from the piano – his main instrument – to the oratory, from chamber music to the sacred. Even Lieder literature is no exception and although “smaller” in number compared to other genres, its corpus outlines an author who deeply knows the great examples that preceded it (Shubert and Schumann above all) and who manages to give a profound look towards the future of the same genre, as happens in each of his compositions. The duo made up of Monika Lukaks and Stefano Ligoratti give a careful and passionate reading of it here, aimed at underlining the more exquisitely liederistic characters on the one hand but also ready to welcome and enhance the main novelty characters that both in the voice and in the piano manages to reach the heights of genius and experimentation in many pages.
