For his solo debut, pianist Ivan Moshchuk explores the connection between Nikolai Medtner and Sergei Rachmaninov. Their distinctive piano cycles – “Forgotten Ways” and “Études-Tableaux” – were written on the cusp of a violent era. Based on a refined sensibility, the cycles open a door to the idea of “Forgotten Melodies”: the ideals of a veiled world. Here, music becomes a lens for memory as a path that endures despite the relentless passage of time.
