The four works on this significant recording – Gesualdo: Libro Sesto (a response to/reworking of material from Gesualdo’s madrigal book), Cipriano, Tom Fool’s Wooing and Kelir – span a 40-year period. The virtuosic intensity of Finnissy’s writing is on display throughout, and each work demands utter conviction from its performers as well as rock-solid technique.
