Mozart: Complete Keyboard Sonatas Vol. 4 – Giovanni De Cecco

This is the fourth volume of Giovanni De Cecco’s ambitious project: the recording on the clavichord of Mozart’s complete keyboard Sonatas. This album comprises Sonatas KV 281, 279 and 283. De Cecco engages each of these Sonatas with a completely new spirit, enlightening every page with his refreshing reading and interpretive balance. Recording after recording, it gradually acquires an increased width. He is also careful not to offer merely an “alternative” reading of these masterpieces to the listener; rather, his is an interpretation which shows, in an evident and indelible form, an artistic imprint of its own. This is done, however, with a total respect of the original signs: here, too, the artist adopts the Bärenreiter edition, and the publishers granted him their auspices. The edition mirrors a fully mature vision, as well as a reflection on the internal structures and on the microcosm which constitutes these masterpieces of the musical literature.
