Immerse yourself for an hour in the magical inspiration of the mature Mozart! The priests of the Kremsmünster monastery were extremely musical and followed the latest developments in Imperial Vienna with keen interest. An arrangement for string quartet enabled them to perform Mozart’s brand-new late masterwork The Magic Flute for themselves. We are excited to have rediscovered this version. Prepare to be astonished at how convincing this music sounds in its string quartet form: the arranger, whoever he may have been, was a true master of his craft.
Mozart in 60 Minutes: The Magic Flute (Kremsmünster Quartet Version) – Ars Antiqua Austria
The Magic Flute, K. 620 (arr. for String Quartet)
Overture
Zu Hilfe, zu Hilfe!
Der Vogelfänger bin ich ja
Dies Bildnis ist bezaubernd schön
Du feines Täubchen, nur herein!
Bei Männern, welche Liebe fühlen
Zum Ziele führt dich diese Bahn
Wie stark ist nicht dein Zauberton!
Das klinget so herrlich
Zweyter Aufzug
O Isis und Osiris
Bewahret euch vor Weibertücken
Alles fühlt der Liebe Freuden
Der Hölle Rache kocht in meinem Herzen
In diesen heil’gen Hallen
Seid uns zum zweitenmal willkommen
Ach, ich fühl’s, es ist verschwunden
Soll ich dich, Teurer, nicht mehr seh’n?
Ein Mädchen oder Weibchen
