Warm, affectionate performances from this relatively new Japanese orchestra. If the soloist doesn’t quite live up to the promise of his birthplace (Tchaikovsky in the Urals), his account is deeply-felt. Dumay conducts just the concerto and symphony; Sachio Fujioka shows himself in La Muse et le Poète to be the more interesting conductor, yet receives no credit on the cover nor biography in the booklet. …
