Written for an instrument now in disuse such as the Arpeggione, Schubert’s sonata of the same name can well be said to be the best work dedicated to this instrument and precisely because of the extreme beauty of the work today it is performed either on the cello or, as in this case, on the Violet. In this recording edited by the violist Tommaso Valenti, we also find a reasoned choice of Lieder which underlines in a very evident way the lyrical quality that pervades every moment of Shubertian music.
