The Three Sounds’ return to Blue Note in the late-60s found the trio evolving and expanding their trademark sound. On Soul Symphony, pianist Gene Harris, bassist Henry Franklin, and drummer Carl Burnett perform music composed, arranged, and conducted by Monk Higgins augmented by woodwinds, brass and strings, including the extended title track, a soul jazz opus of orchestral groove. This Blue Note Classic Vinyl Edition is stereo, all-analog, mastered by Kevin Gray from the original master tapes, and pressed on 180g vinyl at Optimal.
