Some lesser-known transcriptions are brought back to life and sound every bit as vibrant and extravagant as Rochdale Town Hall itself, capturing all the atmosphere and ethos of the Edwardian concert hall experience. Timothy Byram-Wigfield manages these challenging transcriptions with ease and everything is well poised, making the Bach and Handel arrangements particularly successful.
