Out of the Ten Sonatas written by Alexander Skrjabin, the last ones represent an itinerary of its own, which is philosophical, spiritual, and – of course – musical. The complexity of the piano writing and technique is paralleled by the depth of the concepts they attempt to convey: a struggle between the natural and the supernatural, between dark forces and pure tenderness, between what is alien and what is close to the human heart. Pianist Pietro Rigacci masterfully accepts the challenge represented by these works, and builds up a fascinating itinerary amidst Skrjabin’s last Sonatas.
