Alma Guitarra Vol. 1 – Marco Del Greco

An original research project by guitar virtuoso Marco Del Greco, who turns his gaze to early 20th-century Spain in search of the authentic sound of the classical guitar.
A return to the deepest and most authentic soul of this instrument through the music of composers and guitarists who founded its history and repertoire: starting with a 16th century Fantasía by Luys Milán, originally composed for the vihuela, the programme develops through a selection of works by Joaquín Rodrigo, Federico Moreno Torroba and Regino Sainz de la Maza, concluding, almost as an encore, with a Rondeña flamenca by Ramón Montoya. A journey from the distant origins of the guitar to the sunny landscapes of Castile and Andalusia.
All the pieces are rigorously performed on original instruments of the time made by the great luthiers of the Madrilenian school and even more rigorously only with gut strings for the cantini and covered silk strings for the basses, as in use until the advent of synthetic strings. With Alma Guitarra Marco Del Greco today gives us the sound in the air of Picasso and García Lorca, of the young Dalí and Buñuel.
