A visionary composer, arranger, saxophonist and clarinetist, Jimmy Giuffre (1921-2008) occupies a unique place in modern jazz. Released alongside Pierre Carles and Daniel Baillon’s book Jimmy Joue Free, this 2-CD set traces the path of a musician who, long before free jazz, developed a personal language rooted in collective interaction and formal freedom. An essential anthology celebrating one of the twentieth century’s most innovative jazz pioneers.
