Bach: Sonatas & Partitas, BWV 1001-1006 – Paolo Ghidoni

It is hardly possible to find during the eighteenth century works that for the violin and not only cover the same importance as the 6 Bachian Sonatas and Partitas, just as it is equally vain to look for even later compositions, at least up to Paganini, who so intensely and intrinsically went to constitute the very backbone of the violin repertoire on which the study and the artistic and aesthetic development of the musician still rests today. It is therefore easy to understand that they represent a point of arrival as well as a point of comparison for every violinist, with whom he not only measures himself with the music of Kantor, but also with a long list of greats of the past who in various ways have expressed their reflection on these works. Paolo Ghidoni recovers the ancient tradition and combines it with the interpretative one of these works, adding his own personality in a full performance, rich in virtuosity and strength and able to perceive, piece by piece, the intense and abysmal depth of each of these immortal pages.
