Charles Hubert H. Parry: Piano Music Vol. 1 – Christopher Howell

This Da Vinci Classics album constitutes the first instalment of a multi-CD project dedicated to the complete piano works by Charles Hubert H. Parry (1848-1918), one of the most important English composers who lived between nineteenth and twentieth century. Indeed, he was hailed as one of the protagonists of the renaissance of British music, and was noted not only for his compositional activity but also for his efforts in the scholarly and academic field. He held important roles of directorship and teaching at the Royal College of Music and at the University of Oxford. Although his most praised and best-known works are in the field of vocal music (with particular attention to the sacred output), his piano works are worth rediscovering. This Da Vinci Classics project offers the possibility of so doing, through the interpretation of one of the most interesting pianists in today’s British scene, who is also appreciated for his scholarly writing, i.e. Christopher Howell.
