Charles-Marie Widor: Complete Organ Symphonies Vol. 2 – Salvatore Reitano

With this Da Vinci Classics CD, a new stage in the publication of Widor’s complete organ works is reached. This album includes the second and third organ symphony collectively published as Widor’s op. 13. They perfectly demonstrate the symbiosis existing between Widor’s compositional genius and the Cavaillé-Coll “symphonic” organs. Without the opportunities offered by the new organs, Widor would never have had the possibility of creating full symphonies, worth orchestrating, for just one instrument – albeit a very special one, such as the organ.
