Girolamo Frescobaldi And His Heritage – Enrico Viccardi

The influence of the music of Girolamo Frescobaldi (1583-1643) on the composers of his time was truly massive. Starting from four exemplary compositions extracted from the “Fiori Musicali” of 1635 – extracted from the so-called “Messa della Madonna”, the only one surviving to this day – the organist Enrico Viccardi wisely combines works by Michelangelo Rossi (1601 / 1602-1656), Johann Jakob Froberger (1616-1667), Johann Caspar Kerll (1627-1693), Bernardo Pasquini (1637-1710), Dieterich Buxtehude (1637-1707), Georg Muffat (1653-1704) and Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750) demonstrating of how the long echo of Frescobaldian works reached the north of Europe and reverberated over the centuries to come.
