Grimoaldo Macchia: Organ Fireworks – Ivan Ronda

This recording project results from the long friendship between the composer, Grimoaldo Macchia, and organist Ivan Ronda, who specializes in both early and contemporary music. The project’s title, “Organ Fireworks”, alludes to the playful, brilliant and solemn character of many of the pieces recorded here. Several of them are in the Variation form, upon themes which can come from the sacred tradition (such as the Te Deum) or the secular one, with varied provenances including cult movies and classical themes who have become part of pop culture. The many stimuli of this recording are brought to light by the exceptional timbral palette of the great Mascioni Organ employed for this performance.
