Talking about Handel’s music is nothing more than talking about man in his infinite passions and desires. Handel with his music caresses, shares, underlines, explains and continuously consoles the listener in a continuous whirlwind of ideas, notes dressed with passions that practically never go out and remain inside the listener even long after finishing the listen. It is therefore with joy that we see the birth of a disc dedicated to the “original” collection of violin sonatas Op. 1, a collection that appeared in ancient times and which does not yet include the entire corpus of sonatas, sometimes even of dubious attribution, today headed to the handelian genius and part of the entire modern edition. The protagonists of this project are the violinist Mario Hossen and the harpsichordist Piero Barbareschi who, in a careful reading of the practice of the time, manage to perceive the profound emotion that animates every harmony and that makes it well understood how Handel’s response to the pressing request of to know which compositions were his and which he did not have to say “If they are worthy of me, I wrote them”. There would be nothing to add to this sentence and nothing to add to the beauty and wonder that arise with impressive naturalness both from these sonatas and from their interpretation.
