J.M. Bach / J.C. Bach: Complete Organ Music – Stefano Molardi

This is one for the library: all the extant keyboard music by two of Bach’s uncles, Johann Michael (1648-94) and Johann Christoph (1642-1703), played on a contemporaneous Thuringian organ. The repertoire consists mostly of chorale preludes, some arias with variations, and a Prelude & Fugue in E flat. Over 131 tracks, Stefano Molardi registers the organ with varied colours, capitalising on the plethora of 8ftstops. The organ sounds historic, but the (later) Kirnberger II temperament (1779) creates some really raunchy keys, especially E flat major and D minor.
