The music of Jacques Boyvin (c.1649-1706) has attracted much less attention in England than that of the Couperins. Here, then, is a recording to redress the balance. CD1 contains Suites 1, 2, 5, 6, and 7 in their respective tones from the Premier livre d’orgue. CD 2 contains Suite 8, and, from the Second livre d’orgue, Suites 1, 3, 4, and 5. This is a treasure trove of music, performed on an instrument which Boyvin must have played.
