Out Of The Past by Jim Rotondi and Dena DeRose with their Vienna Quartet, is the first and last of its kind ! The recording was made just 2 weeks before the unexpected passing of the Jazz trumpeter Jim Rotondi. A project that was in the works for many years had finally come to fruition through the encouragement of the trumpet great and their music envelops a connection that can only come from decades of playing together. The musical collaboration began in NYC in the 1990s and continued during their professorships at the Jazz Institute in Graz, Austria. After a weekend residency at the famous Vienna jazz club ‘Jazzland’ in June 2024, with bassist Danny Ziemann and drummer Mario Gonzi, they went into the studio and recorded this wonderful album.
