There have been some notable reconstructions of Mozart’s Requiem in recent years, but the Dunedin Consort have used this recording to restore the Sussmayr completion and record a version that is as close to the original performance as possible in a new edition by David Black. Beautifully paced and using period instruments in a chamber-like recording, the classical brass and woodwind create just the right ambience and drama when needed.
