Proximity Alert – Russ Lossing

Following their acclaimed ‘Mood Suite’ album (Steeplechase, 2020), pianist Russ Lossing reunites with bassist Mark Helias and drummer Eric McPherson for another no-rehearsal studio session. This powerhouse trio draws on decades of shared history – Lossing and Helias have collaborated for thirty years, while McPherson brings experience from working with Andrew Hill, Kris Davis, and Fred Hersch. Lossing’s compositions are “interesting and complex without being complicated,” creating space for spontaneous interaction while maintaining sophisticated structure. ‘Proximity Alert’ showcases contemporary jazz trio playing at its most intuitive and emotionally engaging.
