From the New Music Masterworks series of Da Vinci Classics, it is released the latest CD of the composer Biagio Putignano, one of the most renowned authors of the Italian contemporary compositional world. An impressive job where the author approach his first title dedicated to electronic music with his peculiar style. In Almucantarat, astronomical term of Arab origin, Putignano draws entire soundscapes in which he imitates emotional states and abstract concepts through sounds and reflections, leading the listener to build, through a careful listening, a mimetic universe by following the suggestions of sounds. For the author is the imitation the heart of the relationship between the composer and the listener, transcending the concept of music itself, allowing to lean out in such an intimate universe that almost become the mirror of a soul. An example could be the opening piece “Mari di voce”, inspired to the Iliad of Homer filtered by the vision by Alessandro Baricco, the sonic exploration of the myth and its influence constantly enter into the reality of the environment around us, giving us a dream effect of impalpability. A reality sometimes accompanied by a very special Virgilio as John Cage in “If the stars were drems” where his voice lead us in a fantastic exploration where sounds reverberate as if they were colors on the canvas. A highly personal work, certainly not easy at first listen but can not leave indifferent those who want to face a wonderful journey within themself.
