Rossini: Overtures: Piano Transcriptions – Cristiana Pegoraro

Rossini is best known for his numerous works that in the twentieth century experienced a continuous rediscovery to the point of bringing the general public of what was not only an author of comic operas, but also a refined and brilliant interpreter of Italian melodrama. However, the Overtures of his works have always known a constant interest, often as occasional pieces, encore or inserted in real themed concert programs. The pianist Cristiana Pegoraro proposes here a reinterpretation of these pieces on the piano, an instrument thanks to which they have spread from bourgeois salons to passionate musicians, showing how Rossini’s genius shines on any instrument that is used to perform it.
