Schubert: Piano Trio No. 2 D 929 And Notturno D 897 – Trio Immersio

Written a few months before the composer’s death, Schubert’s Second Piano Trio (op. 100) is one of the absolute masterpieces of chamber music. Its utterly unusual length is the expression of transcendent feelings of nostalgia, longing, and yearning, but moments of pathos and drama, as well as of irony and lightness, are not missing. This masterpiece is juxtaposed here to the individual slow movement which is known as “Notturno”, another moment of pure delight and profound beauty.
