The Other Side – Francesco Zago

The world of contemporary cultured music and the world of the electric guitar have always been distant, at least until recently. But the distance between two worlds cannot and must not preclude the possibility of respective knowledge and union. Precisely on this point some guitarists, pioneers in their own way, have become ambassadors together with as many composers in bringing these two realities into each other. It is from this point that the latest work by Francesco Zago, electric guitar and Elena Talarico, piano, moves in addressing and solving this difficult task of giving shape and unity to the compositions of important contemporary composers such as De Simone, Laganella, Manega, Colombo. Taccani, Tüür and last but not least Whitley. What emerges from listening shows how this often feared encounter is instead extremely desirable so that the respective sounds can accompany and enrich each other. In fact, each composition comes to represent, a way in its own right and effective, a possible solution without ever giving up on the form and use of the language of contemporary music.
