Yu-Peng Chen is releasing his new album, ‘The Poem of Life’, on Deutsche Grammophon. The multi-award-winning composer, whose music has been streamed over two billion times worldwide thanks to his work on ‘Genshin Impact’, presents a symphonic suite in twelve movements dedicated to the stages of a human life. The music tells of the first breath, of setting out on a new journey, first love, setbacks, and farewells. In doing so, the composer blends lyrical melodies, powerful orchestral passages, and his Chinese heritage into a deeply personal work. Together with the Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Zhang Liang, Chen combines grand orchestral soundscapes with traditional Chinese instruments such as the erhu, pipa, guzheng, and sheng. Violinist Daniel Hope and mandolinist Avi Avital enrich the album as guest musicians. With his unmistakable style, which has already captivated audiences worldwide, Chen once again bridges the gap between symphonic music and the narrative character of modern soundtracks.
