Airka: Contemporary Music For Horn And Harp – Vittorio Schiavone

It may seem hazardous to couple the horn with the harp, since these two instruments are so utterly different from each other. However, in this recording, Vittorio Schiavone and Laura Di Monaco demonstrate not only the absolute uniqueness of this uncommon ensemble, but also the expressive potential that the music written for this duo can offer. Through a selection of twentieth-century composers, among which shines Ferro’s work which lends its title to the album, listening becomes an occasion for letting us be attracted into an aural world left unexplored in the recent discography. From the very first piece, the wonder for the discovery of a new sonority quickly leaves room for awe and amazement elicited by pieces of a rare beauty and intensity, highlighted by an interpretation which bestows life and sound on the score, and which opens up gems of a unique beauty to the listeners.
