Claude Debussy: Piano Works (Preludes, Arabesques, Nocturne) – Inês Filipe

This Da Vinci Classics album invites the listener for a walk within the rich landscapes conjured by Debussy’s piano music. A selection of 12 Préludes, excerpted from Book One and Two of those written by Debussy, is skillfully arranged in order to provide continuing and sharp contrasts in terms of musical atmosphere and style. Irony such as that found in La serenade interrompue, Général Lavine or Minstrels faces the existential void of Des pas sur la neige or Canopes; the exoticism of La Puerta del vino or Danseuses de Delphes contrasts with the intense narrativity of Ce qu’a vu le vent d’ouest and Ondine – both portraying water but in such a different fashion! This album is fascinatingly integrated by two of Debussy’s most beloved piano works, the Deux Arabesques, and by his touching Nocturne.
