The combination of clarinet, cello and piano is perhaps the most appreciated ensemble among those made up of three instruments belonging to different families. This is due to the remarkable variety and, at the same time, flexibility, achieved by this ensemble. Additionally, all three instruments have an immense palette of dynamics, articulation, and timbre. This Da Vinci Classics album invites us to explore a slice of this repertoire: a fascinating collection of works written in the second half of the twentieth century by some of the most important Italian composers of the time: Francesco Pennisi (1934-2000), Teresa Procaccini ( 1934-), Nino Rota (1911-1979), Aldo Clementi (1925-2011), Francesco Donatoni (1927-2000) and Giovanni Sollima (1962-). The Clementi Trio (Vanessa Grasso, clarinetist, Chiara D’Aparo, cellist and Giulia Rosso, pianist) performs by putting the three instruments in great harmony.
