Enrico Pasini: Organ Works (Three Sonatas, Cantabiles, Trittico, Suite in stile antico) – Ivan Ronda

The organ works by Enrico Pasini are not as commonly known as they deserve. The composer, who passed away in 2022, developed a language of his own, markedly personal and therefore immediately recognizable, and whose roots are deeply inserted within the august Classical tradition of contrapuntal writing. According to Ivan Ronda, “His language, simple yet precise, merges neo-romantic forms with touches of true contemporaneity, all marked by an authentic and noble personality that is always recognizable”. His three Organ Sonatas and his Aria con variazioni, recorded here, offer a full view over the variety of his inspiration and of the techniques employed, from chorale harmonizations to Bach-like fugues and to skillful handling of the variation technique. In Pasini’s own words, “Dedicating my entire life to music and translating life itself into musical notes is what I have always strived to do; this is the essence of my Cantabili and of all my works”.
