Flottiana celebrates the remarkable art-song legacy of Dame Felicity Lott, one of Britain’s best-loved sopranos. This new 10-CD box set, compiled with exceptional care by Graham Johnson, her accompanist and collaborator of five decades, offers an extensive overview of her celebrated recital career.
The collection brings together albums devoted to Schubert, Schumann, Wolf and Richard Strauss, alongside three programmes of French mélodies, a collection of English song, early recordings with The Songmakers’ Almanac, and a live recital from Wigmore Hall.
Renowned for her warm, rich tone, gift for languages, humour and elegant grace, Lott enjoyed a special connection with recital audiences across the UK, France and Germany. Collaborators featured throughout the collection include Peter Schreier, Ann Murray, Anthony Rolfe Johnson, Stephen Varcoe and Susan Bickley.
Curated as a memorial anthology, the set includes newly written essays by Graham Johnson for each album, complete sung texts with English translations, and individual booklets and card wallets housed within a clamshell box.
