On his upcoming DG album Immortal, German-American violinist David Garrett pays tribute to the enduring legacy of classical music.
Drawing on music by some of history’s most influential composers, including W. A. Mozart, Claude Debussy and John Williams, Garrett reimagines familiar works through a contemporary yet profoundly human lens. Each track has been carefully crafted, reflecting the violinist’s deep musical understanding and unwavering commitment to authenticity.
“If we talk about things that come close to immortality, art – especially music – stands out as something that endures over time and approaches the idea of being immortal,” explains Garrett. “Over the past twelve months, I made it my responsibility to do each composer justice in the way I approached their work.”
Listen to a first pre-release track, Puccini’s Nessun Dorma, arranged by Garrett himself together with John Haywood. The full album, featuring 20 tracks on the standard edition and 25 on the deluxe version, will be released digitally, on CD and on vinyl on 9 October and is now available for pre-order.
